Continuing students must reapply for financial aid every year.  The application deadline for the following fall is June 4, 2010, by 5 pm.  Application materials become available on March 1, 2010.  Any student who wishes to receive student loans must complete the JMLS Financial Aid Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

After aid applications have been submitted, the Financial Aid staff will send you a financial aid award letter.  This letter will advise you of your aid eligibility and will include instructions of the steps you will need to take to secure your student loans. Please review all materials before calling our office, since much of the information can be found in your award letter packet. 

Applications for loans. Our office has provided this link which includes information on how to apply for a Grad Plus or private loan directly with a lender. The password can be found on the green sheet that is in your award letter packet. Please keep in mind that you can only borrow up to your Cost of Attendance (which is on your award letter) minus any aid or scholarships. Our office is required to return funds to a lender if a student borrows over their Cost of Attendance. 

Disbursements of loans arrive a week prior to the beginning of each semester for JD students.  Refunds are available during the first week of school.  LLM students' disbursements are not available until mid October for the Fall and mid April for the Spring semester. Refunds would then be available after those dates.  LLM students will not be charged any late fees from the Student Account Office as long as their balances are paid in full by their student loans.
