Before coming to John Marshall, Assistant Dean Laurel Hajek was assistant dean of career services at the University of Dayton School of Law in Dayton, Ohio, where she counseled students and alumni in career planning, job search strategies, and bar admission. She also conducted outreach efforts to legal employers, managed the on-campus recruiting program, presented student workshops and instructional seminars, and supervised the Career Services Office staff. Previously, Dean Hajek had spent three years with the Cincinnati office of Ernst & Young LLP, first as a senior consultant and then as a manager, specializing in firm sales strategy and communications. From 1993–1996, she was a litigator with the Florida-based firm of McConnaughhay Roland Maida & Cherr PA. Dean Hajek has held council and committee posts with the National Association for Law Placement and was president of the Ohio Law Placement Consortium. She is also active in community affairs. While in Dayton, she volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem and served on the board of a homeless shelter.

Stacia has been part of the Career Services team since 1999 and is currently working part-time. She coordinates and oversees most of the programming, including the Alumni Mentor Program, mock interviews and employer receptions. She is also available for student and alumni counseling. Stacia has a master's degree in College Student Personnel & Counseling from Loyola University Chicago and a bachelor of arts in Secondary Education and English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before joining the Career Services team in 1999, Stacia counseled journalism students and alumni at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University for five years.

Rachel Dawson joined the Career Services Office in November 2005. Her responsibilities include counseling students and alumni on career planning, job search strategies and interview skills. Ms. Dawson focuses in particular on programming and counseling for students interested in public interest work and  also serves as the counselor for evening students.  Amongst other activities, Mrs. Dawson teaches the Exam Writing Course for the SCALES Program here at John Marshall.  As a legal professional, Mrs. Dawson served as an assistant appellate defender for the First District of Illinois for two years. She then went on to serve as the Assistant Director of the Academic Support Program at DePaul University College of Law, where she prepared students to succeed in law school and on the bar exam. Mrs. Dawson dedicates much of her spare time to the community and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for Minority Legal Education Resources (MLER), a supplemental bar review program aimed at improving minority bar passage rates and as a member of the Judicial Council of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Mrs. Dawson is devoted to professional development as a career professional and currently serves as the co-chair of the Chicago Area Law School Career Professional Consortium (CALSC) and the Midwest Regional Coordinator for the National Association of Law Career Professionals (NALP).  Mrs. Dawson received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington.

Pascale Bishop joined the Career Services Office in September 2006. As part of her responsibilities she counsels students and alumni on interview skills, career planning, and job search strategies. Before entering the career services field, Ms. Bishop worked as a general commercial litigator in the Chicago office of Barnes & Thornburg and in the Chicago and Washington, D.C. offices of McDermott, Will & Emery. Ms. Bishop also has legal placement experience from the time she spent working as Director of Legal Recruiting for Mestel and Company, a national legal recruiting firm specializing in the lateral placement of associates in large firms. Ms. Bishop graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School and holds a B.A. in European History from the University of Missouri.

Kim Isemann joined the Career Services Office in March 2006.  She transitioned from Careers Services Specialist to Assistant Director in January 2008.  Her responsibilities include counseling students and alumni on career planning, job search strategies and interviewing skills.  Kim is the primary contact for students who are interested in post-graduate judicial clerkships at both the state and federal level.  She counsels and works closely with these students throughout the application process.  Kim also coordinates the federal work study program through which funding is made available to students who are working for government agencies and public interest organizations.  She graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in Finance and a BS in Political Science from Loyola University New Orleans and magna cum laude from The John Marshall Law School.

Sue has been with the Career Services Office for 22 years and is happy to answer your career services questions. She coordinates our on-campus interview program and manages the office. Sue works on a variety of projects, including the Alumni Mentor Program, reciprocity, job bulletins and overseeing all CSO student assistants. She also develops student and employer databases and is always available to introduce office facilities to prospective students, current students and alumni.

Before arriving at The John Marshall Law School, Dennis J. Mazur worked as an Administrative Assistant for a non-profit organization in the suburbs of Chicago where he coordinated conferences and programs and developed materials for adult education. Previously, Dennis had worked as an Information Specialist and Temporary Director of a small educational library. Dennis plays an important role in the Career Services Office, serving as the point of contact for scheduling appointments, handling student, alumni and employer inquiries, posting job opportunities and providing customer service to students and alumni within Symplicity.
