Annual Employee Benefits Symposium

The Center proudly hosts an annual employee benefits symposium each spring that offers academics and leading practitioners the opportunity to present their "works in progress" on current employee benefits issues and receive feedback before publication. Past topics have included "The Changing Landscape of Executive Compensation Regulation and Reporting," "The Future of Employer-Provided Health Benefits," and "Legal Issues Regarding Public Sector Employee Benefits Plans."

Tax law graduates have obtained positions at prestigious law firms, consulting firms, governmental agencies, nonprofits, and other organizations. Every year the Center invites its alumni back to talk to our current degree candidates about how they were able to use their degrees to obtain these positions.

Annual Institute on the Ethics of Tax Law Practice

The Center for Tax Law and Employee Benefits offer attorneys the opportunity to earn their required ethics credits at our Annual Institute on the Ethics of Tax Law Practice. Each year we bring together leading tax practitioners to discuss and investigate current ethical issues in taxation. Past topics have included "Requirements and Professional Obligations in a World of Increasing Disclosure" and "Shrinking Privileges, Expanding Responsibilities."

Annual IRS/DOL Roundtable Discussion

Tax law and employee benefits graduates are in high demand, not only in prestigious law firms, consulting firms, and nonprofits, but also in government agencies. In order for students to get a better understanding of what these jobs entail, the Center invites senior-level managers from the IRS and Department of Labor (DOL) to join the Center's degree candidates for an informal discussion on their careers in government, why students should consider a career at a regulatory agency, and the availability of current positions.
