JD Certificate in Intellectual Property Law
(Information and Application)

To earn a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, a student must complete the 90 semester hours required for the Juris Doctor degree and satisfy all the JD requirements.Within the elective course work required for the JD degree, a student must complete sixteen (16) credit hours from the listed intellectual property courses (JD students may take up to six credit hours of LL.M. intellectual property courses), with a minimum of 3.20 GPA in those courses and a 3.0 overall GPA.

A student must list on this form the IP courses taken, even if the grade is not yet known.

In addition to these required courses, students are encouraged to pursue a wide number of JD intellectual property electives, includingArt Law, Claim Drafting, Business Franchise Law, Entertainment Law, Gaming Law, International Intellectual Property Law, IP Licensing, IP Litigation, IP Survey, Patent Office Practice, Publishing Law, Right of Publicity & Protection of Personality, Sports Law, Trial Advocacy for IP Attorneys; Patent Law: Statutory & Regulatory Fundamentals; and Unfair Competition Law.
